Midnight Edition is $39.99 vs $29.99 and adds a 71-track Sound & Art Gallery, Trevor and Sypha costumes and the Family's Grace relic. Worth it?
Belmont's Curse Midnight Edition vs Standard
The Midnight Edition costs $39.99 in the US against $29.99 for Standard, and the extra $10 buys four things: a separate Digital Sound & Art Gallery app, two Rose costumes, and one Relic. Three of those you can judge right now, ten days before launch. The fourth — the Family's Grace Relic — has no published effect anywhere, so part of the ten dollars is a blind buy. Take Midnight if you are already shopping the Steam Dead Cells bundle, where the upgrade costs $9. Skip it if the game itself is all you want.
- Standard is digital only in the US and is $29.99. Midnight is $39.99, sold both digitally and on disc.
- Nothing about the game changes. No extra levels, bosses, weapons or modes ship with the upgrade.
- The gallery is a separate application, not an in-game menu, and Konami has not published its download size.
- Trevor and Sypha are skins for Rose, not new playable characters.
- Family's Grace is the only gameplay item, and its effect is unpublished.
- No Deluxe or Collector's tier exists. "Night One" is the pre-order bonus, not a third edition.

Standard vs Midnight: what the extra $10 buys

| Sold on disc in the US | No | Yes |
| Digital Sound & Art Gallery | No | Yes, separate application |

Konami's product page is the source for every row except the prices: "Standard Edition / Digital Version / Main Game" against "Midnight Edition / Physical Version / Digital Version" with the gallery and three in-game bonuses underneath. The $29.99 and $39.99 figures were read off Steam, the Nintendo eShop and Amazon on October 5, 2026, and they agree.
Official source: Castlevania: Belmont's Curse Product page — "Product Line-up: Standard Edition / Digital Version / Main Game" and "Midnight Edition / Physical Version / Digital Version / Main Game / Digital Sound & Art Gallery / Bonuses (In-game items) x3: ①Trevor Style Costume ②Sypha Style Costume ③Family's Grace (Relic)"
The gallery is a separate app, and 71 is not 71 songs
The Digital Sound & Art Gallery carries over 100 pieces of artwork — concept art and production sketches — plus an in-app music player. Konami prints one warning that matters: it is a separate application from the main game, not a menu inside Belmont's Curse, and no download size is published for it. Budget for more than the 2 GB the editions differ by.
The track count deserves a second look. Konami lists 71 entries, but 40 are base titles and 31 are longer "Extended" versions — and every one of those 31 has a base-title counterpart elsewhere in the same list. Bloodbound, Oathbreaker, Holy Fury and Gravefall each appear twice; Lord of the Night appears three times, as a base title and two extended cuts. You are buying roughly 40 distinct pieces of music presented as 71, plus a picture book of the art production.
The full 71-entry list is printed in order on the official product page. If none of the 40 base titles is a soundtrack you would replay on purpose, the gallery is not worth ten dollars to you however good the art is.
Trevor and Sypha costumes are Rose outfits
This is the most misread item in the edition. Konami's June 8 announcement is explicit that the Midnight Edition includes "alternate costumes for Rose Belmont". Trevor and Sypha are not playable and do not change the story. They are two extra skins for the one character you control, themed after Rose's parents.
The character and voice cast page covers who they are in this game's story. Rose is the protagonist; Konami has announced no second playable character.
Family's Grace is the one item you are buying blind
Relics are the game's second equipment track alongside weapons. Konami describes them as items that trigger powerful effects through both offense and defense, and Rose can carry three at a time. The example the official hands-on gave is the Crypt Key, which fully restores health and mana whenever a chest is opened.
For Family's Grace, Konami has published the name and nothing else. No official source says what it does, whether it can be earned in the standard game, or whether the Midnight Edition is the only route to it. The Castlevania Fandom wiki lists its special effect as unknown, and player threads are openly guessing. The full relic list is also unpublished, so on launch day you cannot tell whether this is a slot you will want filled. Relic mechanics are covered in the weapons and relics guide, and the free demo does not include this item.
Prices, contents and sizes are all published. The Family's Grace effect is not. Buying Midnight today means accepting one unknown item alongside the soundtrack, the artwork and two costumes.
Two more gigabytes, and Switch is the tight one
| Edition | Download | Download on Switch |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 8 GB | 4 GB (Nintendo eShop estimate: 4.2 GB) |
| Midnight | 10 GB | 6 GB |
| Gallery app (Midnight only) | Not published | Not published |
Two gigabytes is noise on a console and a small problem on a Switch card you are probably already juggling. Not a reason to avoid Midnight, but a reason to buy the disc on Switch. The PS5 vs Switch comparison covers the frame rate difference, the bigger platform decision.
Physical editions: Night One, and the EMEA-only SteelBook
Konami sells exactly two tiers, and its US product page lists Standard as digital-only and Midnight as physical or digital. So the only disc version in North America is the $39.99 one, which retailers there — Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart, Target — list as the Night One Edition. That is where the third name in search results comes from. Amazon's contents list matches the Midnight line-up: main game, gallery, both costumes and the relic. "Night One" is the Alucard Style Costume pre-order bonus, borrowed by retailers for the physical SKU. It is not a third edition.
| Physical item | North America | EMEA |
|---|---|---|
| Disc with the Midnight content | Yes, $39.99 | Yes |
| SteelBook case | No | Yes, select EMEA retailers, retailers still to be named |
| Rose tarot card with Katsuya Terada art | No | Yes, select EMEA retailers |
Some early coverage said North America would not get a physical Midnight Edition at all. That was written in June; retailer listings as of October 5, 2026 show a $39.99 physical SKU shipping in the US. Unchanged is the SteelBook and the tarot card: Konami's June 8 press release scopes both to "select EMEA retailers".
One more physical-specific trap: the Alucard Style Costume is not on the disc. Konami's product page says the physical version requires an additional download from the online store, so a disc buyer still needs a console account and a network connection on day one. The pre-order bonus page walks through which retailer gives you what.
Official source: Konami's June 8, 2026 edition announcement — "Pre-ordering or early purchasing the Physical Midnight Edition with select EMEA retailers (to be announced) will also include an exclusive SteelBook. Also available with select EMEA retailers: a premium tarot card of Rose Belmont featuring exclusive art by illustrator and manga artist Katsuya Terada."
Midnight costs $9 more inside the Steam bundles
If Dead Cells or V Rising was on your list anyway, the price gap narrows. Steam was running three bundles on October 5, 2026:
| Steam bundle | Full price | Bundle price | Saving |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition x Dead Cells (with Return to Castlevania) | $58.47 | $44.52 | 24% |
| Midnight Edition x Dead Cells (with Return to Castlevania) | $67.47 | $53.52 | 21% |
| Standard Edition x V Rising (with Legacy of Castlevania Premium Pack) | $76.47 | $55.55 | 27% |
The two Dead Cells bundles differ by exactly $9.00 — $53.52 against $44.52 — so the upgrade that costs ten dollars on its own costs nine inside the bundle. There is no Midnight V Rising bundle listed. Discounts move with store events, so check the live Steam store page first.
So who should pay the extra $10?
| Buyer | Call | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Wants the soundtrack and the art | Midnight | This is the actual product being sold |
| Already wants Dead Cells on Steam | Midnight | The upgrade costs $9 in the bundle |
| Plays only the base game | Standard | Zero gameplay content is gated |
| On Switch with limited card space | Standard | 4 GB against 6 GB |
| Collects physical NA releases | Midnight | It is the only disc SKU in the US |
| In EMEA and wants the SteelBook | Physical Midnight | The case is the reason that SKU exists |
| Wants a stronger build of Rose | Standard | Trevor and Sypha are skins, not a power tier |
Neither edition changes difficulty, content or the ending. If the demo left you undecided about the game itself, the demo verdict page is the more useful read, and the demo guide covers what those 30 to 45 minutes show you.
FAQ
What is the difference between Standard and Midnight Edition?
Standard is the main game alone at $29.99. Midnight is $39.99 and adds the Digital Sound & Art Gallery, the Trevor and Sypha costumes and the Family's Grace Relic. Konami has not announced a third edition.
Is there a Deluxe or Collector's edition?
No. Konami's product page lists Standard and Midnight only, and US retailers use "Night One Edition" for the $39.99 physical Midnight disc, not for a third tier. A listing calling something Deluxe is a store bundle or a third-party SKU.
Is the Midnight Edition worth $10 more?
Only if you want the soundtrack and artwork, want the physical disc in North America, or are buying the Steam Dead Cells bundle where the upgrade is $9. It adds no levels, bosses or weapons, and its only gameplay item has no published effect.
What does the Family's Grace relic do?
Konami has published the name and no effect. Relics as a system are described, but this one's function — and whether the standard edition can also give it to you — is unconfirmed as of October 5, 2026.
Are the Trevor and Sypha costumes new characters?
No. Both are alternate costumes for Rose Belmont. Neither is playable, and Konami has not announced a second playable character.
Does the Midnight Edition have more of the game?
No. The 10 GB against Standard's 8 GB is bonus content, not extra levels. Frame rate, platform and the full size table are in the release date and platforms page.
