Castlevania Belmont's Curse Release Date and Platforms

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse launches on Thursday, October 15, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam and Nintendo Switch. Konami lists 60 fps everywhere except Nintendo Switch, which runs at 30 fps. The free demo is already live and its save transfers into the full game. As of October 5, 2026 every platform is still in pre-order — the Steam page reads "All Reviews: No user reviews".

  • One launch day, five storefronts. October 15 is the date on Konami's site, the Nintendo Store, the PlayStation Store and Konami's press release. Steam's date field prints October 14 — explained below, and not a second release date.
  • Switch is the 30 fps build, and there is one Nintendo Switch release rather than a separate Switch 2 version.
  • The demo is the only playable build, free on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch and Steam.
  • Two editions in USD: Standard at $29.99, Midnight at $39.99.

Official source: Castlevania: Belmont's Curse Product page — "Release Date 15-Oct-26", "Frame Rate 60 fps (Nintendo Switch™: 30 fps)", "Minimum Required Capacity Standard Edition: 8 GB (Nintendo Switch™: 4 GB), Midnight Edition: 10 GB (Nintendo Switch™: 6 GB)"

Why Steam says October 14

Steam's own metadata disagrees with everyone else. The Steam listing prints "Coming Oct 14, 2026" — under a banner reading "This game plans to unlock in approximately 10 days" when checked on October 5, which points at the 15th.

The likely reason is the unlock timestamp. The PlayStation Store publishes its release moment as 2026-10-15T04:00:00Z, and 04:00 UTC on the 15th is still the evening of the 14th on the US west coast. Storefronts render that moment in the viewer's own timezone, which is why a US storefront prints the earlier calendar day. Nintendo's US page stores 2026-10-15T00:00:00.000Z and displays "October 15, 2026", Konami's banner reads "OUT OCTOBER 15, 2026", and Konami's press release announced the October 15 launch on June 8, 2026. The demo shows the same artifact: announced September 20, live October 1, Steam carrying a placeholder date a day earlier.

There is no second release date

Steam printing October 14 next to everyone else printing October 15 is a timezone display difference, not a delay or a staggered rollout. Plan against October 15, and let your own store page settle it on the day.

The demo is already live on four of the five platforms

Konami's demo page covers the opening chapter: 15th-century Paris, the sewers, and the first boss, The Fallen. It is free on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Steam. Xbox on PC is absent from that list, so the Microsoft Store PC build has no demo to try.

Demo platform Minimum download
PlayStation 5 6 GB
Nintendo Switch 3 GB
Xbox Series X|S 5 GB
Steam 4 GB

Demo save data transfers into the full game, with five conditions Konami lists: same platform, same account, keep the demo save, some features restricted, and update the full game to its latest version when transferring. The demo guide covers what is in it; save transfer rules covers the mistakes that void a save.

Pre-ordering is optional, the demo is not

Based on the demo as of October 5, 2026, the opening chapter runs roughly 30 to 45 minutes depending on how much you explore, and it ends at The Fallen — enough to judge the whip combat and the difficulty before you spend $29.99.

Editions: what the extra ten dollars buys

Standard is $29.99 and Midnight is $39.99 in the US. Midnight adds the Digital Sound & Art Gallery — a separate application with over 100 production artworks and a 71-track music player — plus Trevor and Sypha costumes and the Family's Grace relic. Download size goes from 8 GB to 10 GB (4 GB to 6 GB on Switch). Midnight versus Standard walks the $10 difference case by case.

Pre-ordering any edition awards the Alucard Style Costume; physical copies need a separate download from the online store to claim it. Physical Midnight pre-orders through select EMEA retailers add a SteelBook and a Katsuya Terada tarot card. That costume does not mean Alucard appears in the story — Konami has not announced it. See pre-order bonus details.

No PS4, no Xbox One, and no native Switch 2 build

There is no announced PS4 disc or Xbox One copy: the official product page lists only the five current platforms. Nintendo's store page shows "Nintendo Switch 2 Compatibility Information: Supported – Game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch", the wording used when a game was not built for the newer hardware, and there is exactly one Nintendo release. Media hands-on reports put the Switch 2 running that build at roughly 60 fps through backward compatibility, at a softer image than PS5 and Xbox — see the Switch 2 version breakdown.

PC: Windows only, and there are two PC builds

Steam's platform flags are Windows true, macOS false, Linux false. The minimum spec is Windows 11, an i5-8400, 16 GB RAM and an GTX 1650 on DirectX 11 with 10 GB of storage; the recommended spec raises the CPU to an i5-10400 and the GPU to an RTX 3060. Both are 64-bit only — full list in PC system requirements. The second PC build is the Microsoft Store version of Xbox on PC, sold separately from Steam. No Xbox Game Pass day-one deal has been announced as of October 5, 2026.
